Fundamental Skills for Success

Imagine you are driving down the road and your car breaks down. You go to get a tool from your toolbox but there is only a hammer. You are going to be limited in how you can fix it. The same can be said with our mental health. If we are driving down the road of life and we get hit with depression, anxiety, or stress, we need the appropriate tools to effectively deal with it.

Fundamental Skills for Success provides skills that help you in a quickly changing world. Everyone benefits from having these skills. The program addresses mental health including stress, anxiety, and depression, but the program goes much further to also include goal setting, behaviour activation, effective communication tools, and relapse prevention.  Each week presents a new tool to add to your toolbox.

They can help you to get a job, progress at your current job, develop and maintain relationships, become a better communicator, and to be more assertive in having your needs addressed. The skills also help you become an active member of your community and succeed in life.

The program includes skills that are foundational for building other skills and knowledge and are important for effective social interaction. These skills overlap and interact with each other and with other technical and life skills. They are inclusive and can be adapted to different contexts.
